# Project Portal - User Roles and Permissions

# Add New User

The Organisation Administrator is able to set up new Users and define their role on a project by project basis. See separate guidance on Organisational Portal for more information.
 
# User Roles & Permissions
Understanding user roles is essential for managing permissions and ensuring secure, streamlined workflows across your project portal. Below is a breakdown of each role and the access they provide.
 
### Dashboard Viewer
Dashboard Viewers have ***read-only*** access to high-level project metrics and Interactive Dashboards (if applicable).
This role is ideal for stakeholders who need project level visibility of metrics and visualisations through a bespoke interactive dashboard.
✅ View Interactive Dashboard (if applicable)
❌ Cannot view or edit surveys, or run reports
❌ Cannot create, reissue, delete surveys

### Viewer
Viewers can ***view and export survey data*** but not add/edit/delete survey data.
This role is ideal for team members who need to review data for completed surveys.
✅ View survey data
✅ Run & Download reports
❌ Cannot view, edit or add data
❌ Cannot create, reissue, delete surveys

### Quality Assurance (QA)
QA users can ***review survey data*** for accuracy and consistency, making changes to improve data quality before final submission.
This role is ideal for dedicated QA team members.
✅ View and edit completed surveys, run reports, import changes
❌ Cannot create, reissue, delete surveys

### Surveyor
Surveyors can ***carry out surveys using the mobile app*** and view and edit ***their own data***.
This role is ideal for dedicated surveyors, who are not managing the wider project.
✅ Survey using mobile app
✅ View and edit their own surveys, run reports, import changes
❌ Cannot create, reissue, delete surveys
 
### Lead Surveyor
Lead Surveyors have the most control, they can set up and ***manage surveys, carry out surveys, edit data and run reports***.
This role is ideal for senior staff coordinating surveys and delivering data reports.

✅ Create, reissue, delete surveys
✅ Add Sites & Taxonomies
✅ View and edit all surveys, run reports, import changes
 

### Admin & Super Admin
Admin roles can add users, licenses, allocate users to projects and set up new projects. Please see separate guidance on the Organisational Portal for more information.
