Downloading Surveys

Surveys automatically download onto the mobile app once they are assigned to a surveyor. Surveyors can check the download status of their surveys in the mobile app.

Receiving a survey on the mobile app

  • A survey will only appear in the mobile app when it has been issued to that specific surveyor in the web application (see guidance here).
  • When a survey has been issued to you, open the mobile app and ensure you are connected to the internet.
  • The survey will automatically download when the app is open.
  • When fully downloaded the Survey Download icon (bottom right-hand corner) will be green.
  • Ensure the survey is fully downloaded (icon is green) before closing the app.
  • When the survey is fully downloaded you can start the survey, and/or going offline on your device.

Survey download progress

Large surveys can take longer to download, when there is a poor internet connection. You can monitor the progress of a survey download by checking the Survey Download icon (bottom right-hand corner). The icon colour will indicate the status of surveys being downloaded:

  • Icon is orange and spinning - this means survey resources are actively being downloaded. Leave the app open, connected to the internet, and wait for the downloads to complete.
  • Icon is green - this means the survey resources are all fully downloaded. Carry on surveying, feel free to go offline.
  • Icon is red - this means a survey has failed to download. Tap the icon to find out more, and read the guidance on resolving download errors below.

Resolving download errors

If a survey fails to download, the app will repeatedly try to download it. If unsuccessful the Survey Download icon will be red. To resolve this:

  • Tap on the Survey Download icon, a list of survey resources will be shown. Note: a survey may have multiple resources, such as taxonomies, rooms, floorplans and assets.
  • A count of Active, Completed and Failed downloads will be visible.
  • If there are Active Downloads, leave the app open and connected to the internet until they complete, or fail.
  • If a download fails, scroll down in the Download Monitor screen to the Re-download Survey Resources section. Find the survey that failed, and press re-download.
  • If the download continues to fail, after re-downloading there may be an issue with the survey set-up. Contact Asseticom support by email or live chat.

Note: You need to be online to download survey resources. Avoid closing the app, switching to offline mode, or losing an internet connection when a survey is being downloaded.
